Stop everything in the world and go over to the official DBT site and download Birthday Boy for free. Is this the heaviest, deepest most irreverent song ever written about a stripper or about something else entirely but not quite? And is it breathing deep or breathing in or maybe just a bathroom on the right or do those questions even matter at all? Let us know what you think over on our message board but not before you download this three minute and thirty nine second jingle jangle masterpiece from Cooley and turn it the fuck up. A Kick In The Pants…

Check out this first official taste of The Big To-Do with the premier of This Fucking Job, what could be the liner notes and this bad ass Patterson quote over at Stereogum:

I grew up worshiping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I’m still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I’m not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn’t really feel all that different to me now. I pay the price, but I get to get up there with my best friends and tell dirty and violent stories about desperate people in troubled circumstances. I get to turn it up loud, and sometimes I even get to dance.

Patterson is having his annual guitar pull for the Robert Osborne Classic Film Festival at The 40 Watt on Wednesday February 24th. Am I the only on who loves the phrase guitar pull? It conjures up images of turkey shoots, guitars being strummed, whiskey being drunk with just the proper amount of hell being raised:

Patterson’s Annual Benefit Guitar Pull

I am hosting my Annual Benefit Guitar Pull for the Robert Osborne Classic Film Festival
on Wed. Feb. 24 - 9pm doors.

It will be a Nashville style Songwriter in the Round performance (like previous years).

Additionally John Neff and Brad Morgan will be providing backing for all involved.

ALL PROCEEDS go to our city’s incredible film festival which screens classic movies in a big auditorium with state of the art projection.
This year’s films include THE GODFATHER #2, THE WIZARD OF OZ, DOUBLE INDEMNITY, THE SHINING, ALL ABOUT EVE, BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID, and Hitchcock’s TO CATCH A THIEF.
